Ambition drives Macbeth toward his inevitable downfall, a cycle visually represented by the Möbius-strip-inspired staircase at the center of my design. The infinite loop of the staircase symbolises the inescapable cycles of power, ambition, and guilt that ensnare Macbeth.
Key visual elements include oppressive Gothic architecture, black chains as curtains at the front, and red chains wrapped around the central staircase. Scattered red, black, and silver beads symbolise bloodshed, guilt, and fractured morality. The sword atop the right tower emphasizes Macbeth's fate, while the Gothic arches on both sides evoke a sense of decaying grandeur.
The Möbius staircase, with its surreal structure, serves as a visual metaphor for Macbeth’s endless ambition and ultimate entrapment in his own deeds.
By intertwining symbolic objects like the Möbius staircase and chains with the physical space, the design reinforces the inescapability of Macbeth’s tragic fate.
