Power is the main keyword in 'Macbeth', and the chessboard as the main element in my design represents the competitive nature of power, which is like being controlled and uncertain in the process of the game.
The board is not only used as part of the stage to represent a venue for the actors to compete for power, the characters are like pieces on the board and the winner gets the honour and power. There is also a lighting atmosphere created, with the white chessboard being a clear frosted glass texture that produces different lighting floors for different scenes.
Stage and costume are as Monochromatic, the main colour is black, white and red, different colour and design of the board of costume represents different positions, Macbeth and lady Macbeth's board for broken version, symbolising the final ending.
