Charlie Lee
Charlie Lee is a set and costume designer, artist, and theatre maker from Aotearoa working on unceded Wurundjeri land. They are interested in the potential of material-led design practices to disrupt power structures and hegemonic forms of knowledge, temporality and identification.
Particularly interested in devised, dance, and site-specific processes, Charlie is informed by queer/trans*, ecological, and community-oriented methodologies.
In 2024 they completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Production) at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA). Charlie’s design credits include 'Time Under Tension'. (chor. Luke George), 'Angelfood' (VCA Theatre), and 'Everybody' (dir. Isabella Vadiveloo). Other projects include 'Air Hunger' (chor. Lucy Eidelson) and short film 'Emile is Missing' (dir. Sam Carson, Fèlix Morreo).
They have also been part of Seventh Gallery’s 2024 Emerging Writer’s Programme, and will continue writing on performing queer futurity and atmospheres of indeterminacy.
